Texas Chapter Planning Awards Program
The APA Texas Planning Awards Program recognizes individuals, organizations and communities for outstanding contributions to planning in Texas. Any APA Texas member may nominate plans, projects, programs, individuals, or organizations to several categories. The Awards Committee evaluates nominees based on originality and innovation, engagement, implementation and effectiveness, quality, and promotion of planning.
At the October 16, 2018 Board of Directors Meeting, the Board approved new award categories for the Texas Chapter Planning Awards Program to better align with the categories and criteria of the National Planning Awards Program. The purpose of aligning the Texas Chapter Awards with the National Planning Awards is to:
Make it easier for cities to apply for National awards. By having the same categories and same criteria, award recipients from the Chapter can easily submit the same award application to national with little or no modifications.
Become more competitive for National awards. Chapter award recipients will be able to improve their applications from comments by the Chapter Awards Committee. Similar to Great Places in Texas, the Chapter will be able to assist cities to improve their application for national submission and provide a letter of support on behalf of the Chapter.
Call for Awards begins March 2, 2020 Award nominations are due May 15, 2020 by 11:59pm. Due to hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, APATX is waiving the application fee for award nominations.
All award nominations must be submitted through the online nomination portal using ZoomGrants. Access to the portal will be available only when the nomination window is open. Follow these steps to prepare and submit your award nomination:
